So, the weekend is sadly almost over with but one more game left to play, but it should be a damn tasty match! These are two very good teams, lead by two clever managers so expect a fast-paced game with lots of chances.
So far, Tottenham have been impressing me this season, if you remember, I thought they may struggle with their complete lack of signings in the summer. They have, however, continually proved me wrong and, although on paper a 1-0 90th minute winner at home against against Burnley may seem like a poor result. What this showed to me, nevertheless, is the amount of resilience Spurs are willing to put up against exhaustion, because they sure did look it, yet came out with the three points. We are getting close to the time when teams can reinforce if they need to and I think Tottenham are one of the teams that definitely need to. Although they are winning games and keeping up a run just behind the title race, they are by no means out of it, I really believe that they will need to backup their starting 11, which I feel is one of the best in the league. They are through to the next round of the Champions League, the semi finals of the League Cup and have the FA Cup approaching fast, they will not be able to make progress in all of these if they only have 11-12 players starting every game. There is no need for Harry Kane or Dele Alli to be starting every game and I’m not sure they have the backup to switch up their play when they need it, so for this reason, should they strengthen in January then I reckon they could have a run at some cups this season (really putting my reputation on the line with that one).
Everton have had a topsy turvy start to the season so far, they have had some good performances and ones where they haven’t quite gotten going. They will be desperate to win here, having not won their last 4, but I personally think they would be better looking forward to their Boxing Day fixture vs. Burnley to be honest. Ok, so they’re playing at home and Richarlison is a witch who can conjure up anything at any time, but I still believe Tottenham are going to be a tough opponent for them. So far this season, Everton have failed to beat any of the top 6 teams and have only taken 1 point (at home to Chelsea) from those fixtures so far so I can’t see them performing well here either. I’m sorry to say it Toffees fans but I think you’re facing a losing battle today.
My Prediction: 2-1 win to Tottenham
